No load-shedding in Sehr,Aftar, Taravih: Abid Sher Ali

SUKKUR: Minister of State for Water and Power, Chaudhry Abid Sher Ali has announced that there will be no load-shedding during Sehr, Aftar and Taravih timings in the holy month of Ramadan, while the overall duration of power load management shall also be reduced.

Talking to media at the WAPDA rest house here on Monday, he said that the campaign against electricity defaulters and power thieves had begun on the directives of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and action was being taken against those usurping the rights of the people.

Abid Sher Ali warned that strict action will be taken, if any WAPDA employee found involved in power pilferage.

He said the Sindh government has given up reconciliation of power dues after agreeing on bills amounting to Rs 12 billion, although an amount of Rs 56 billion is yet to be reconciled.

He said the federal government was trying its level best not to put any stakeholder in an uncomfortable position as far as payment of bills and power supply was concerned.

To a question, State Minister said that most of the crises in the country will be overcome by end of next year.

He said that work on mega projects with the assistance of 16 billion dollars from China, 1.5 billion dollars from Saudi Arabia and others had been started.

These will yield positive results soon and jobs will be provided to over 3 million people in the country from these projects.

Responding to another question, he said that rigging has been proved in the elections of KPK local bodies elections.
