KARACHI: Due to heavy rains, as many as 250 feeders have been tripped in Sindh, depriving 10 districts of power in the province, Radio Pakistan reported Monday.
The Sukkur Electric Power Company (Sepco) said that efforts are being made to remove the fault from feeders to restore electricity to the affected areas. The tripping of feeders caused power outages in almost 10 districts of Sindh, including Larkana, Sukkur, Ghotki, Khairpur, Kashmore, Kandhkot, Qambar-Shahdadkot and Jacobabad, he added.
A broken conductor on a 220 KV power line transmitting electricity from the Bin Qasim power plants had caused the line and then subsequently the plants to trip on the evening of July 7. The fault caused the 560MW power plants to be shut down as repairs were made to the transmission line.
