No power load-shedding by 2017-18: Senate told

ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali on Wednesday informed the Senate that the menace of power load-shedding would be coped by 2017-18.

Responding to various periodical reports, the minister said power load-shedding was restricted to 6-8 hour in urban and rural areas respectively with zero load-management at Sehari, Iftari and Tarveeh.

He said that currently 8 hour load-shedding was also being carried out in industrial areas to ensure uninterrupted power supply to domestic consumers during Sehari, Iftari and Tarveeh.

However, the minister conceded that more load-shedding was also being carried out in areas of high losses.

He said that the incumbent government has exempted industrial sector from power load-shedding for the last 10 months before advent of the Holy month of Ramadan.

The minister said since its inception, the government cleared Rs.480 billion circular debt resulting addition of 1700 MW to the national grid station.
