ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali has claimed that there is no loadshedding in more than 90 per cent of urban areas during Sehr and Iftar timings.
During a media briefing, Abid Sher Ali along with Water and Power Secretary Younis Dhaga said that there was no loadshedding more than 5 hours in urban and 7 hours in rural areas. He said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister had demanded 1,400MW electricity to meet demand of the province but the federal government was providing 1,457MW.
However, he admitted that the constraints present within the system. He appreciated the Sindh chief minister for endorsing federal government’s point of view by closing shops to save electricity. He said that it was a standard practice in the whole world to close shops at nighttime to save electricity. Even neighbouring countries were following this practice, he added. He ruled out that there was shortage of furnace oil.
