No response of NHMP to Customs Dept results in escape of vehicles loaded with smuggling goods

ISLAMABAD: The focal person of the National Highway and Motorway Police did not respond to the phone calls of the focal person of Pakistan Customs for interception of information based vehicles carrying huge quantities of smuggling goods.

According to details explained by sources that the Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Islamabad received asome reliable information that a bus, bearing Registration No: 857 carrying huge quantity of smuggling goods, headed for Lahore via Motorway. As per Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), the customs authorities of the Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Islamabad tried to contact Ashiq Chohan, Focal Person NH/MP, however the focal person did not respond to the phone calls of focal person of Pakistan Customs. This resulted in an easy escape of the alleged passenger bus along with the huge quantity of smuggling items.
Such lack of coordination and response on the part of the NH/MP focal person results in free movement of smuggling goods on the Motorway. The Customs Department has requested the Ministry of Communication and IG Motorway Police to bind the focal person of the Motorway Police to cooperate with the Customs Department for swift functioning of the anti-smuggling activities of the Preventive Department of the MCC Islamabad.
