KARACHI: The Chief Collector-Appraisement South Abdul Rashid Shaikh has called a meeting of the collectors of all the three field formations.
During the meeting, the Chief Collector-Appraisement South Abdul Rashid Shaikh reviewed the revenue collection status of all field formation Collectorates, including Customs Appraisement West, Appraisement East and Port Qasim.
The Chief Collector-Appraisement South was briefed by the collectors of field formations separately over revenue status and collection being done by the Customs officials till November-2016.
The Chief Collector-Appraisement South Abdul Rashid Shaikh directed the collectors to ensure achievement of revenue targets by the end of second quarters of the current Fiscal Year2016-17, adding that all resources would be utilized to get the revenue target set by the Federal Board of Revenue-FBR.
The chief collector was also made it clear that there was no room for corrupt officials in the department adding that the clearance goods would be cleared on merit.
The chief collector said that the strict action should be taken against those Customs officials who found involved in mal-practicing and using their powers in wrong-doings.
The chief collector Appraisement South said that the effective measures should be taken to curb mis-declaration and tax evasion adding that the Customs officers should also take strict action against those importers and clearing agents who are using wrong and illegal ways to clear their imported consignments.
The Chief Collector Appraisement (South) Abdul Rashid Shaikh further asked the Collectors of all three field formation that the FBR has clear directives that revenue leakages could be stopped by taking effective measures in order to uproot the tax-evasion and under-invoicing practices.
It may be mentioned here that the all three field formation Collectorates of Appraisement (South) have collected revenue of Rs88billion and Rs677million altogether during the five months of the current Fiscal Year 2016-17.
The Chief Collector-Appraisement South asked the top officers of the field formation Collectorates to ensure achievement of the revenue target by the end of second quarters of the FY2016-
