KARACHI: The K-Electric has claimed that there is no unannounced power loadshedding in any part of the metropolis.

According to the statement issued on Monday, some small pockets in the city, spread over 6,500 square km, experience disruption in supply due to localised faults. The statement read: “these isolated incidents should not be confused with power outages.”

The K-Electric’s spokesperson also claimed that tripping was happening in mainly due to overloading of PMTs in those areas where the losses and power theft was high.

Quoting the Ibrahim Hyderi area as an example, the KE spokesperson said the residents of the area owed more than Rs43 million to the power utility, whereas the rate of monthly paying ratio was only five percent.

Similarly, the protest in the Liaquatabad area was in reaction to removal of illegal connections by the KE teams, the spokesperson further claimed.
