Nokia announces updated maps on Android for Here users in Cyprus, Mayotte, Zimbabwe

HELSINKI: Here is a mapping company owned by Nokia, has unveiled the release of updated maps on Android. These maps now include better and improved maps for every continent as well as turn-by-turn directions support to three new markets.

Here app will automatically notify of the available update and users just have to follow the on-screen instructions to the complete the update process.

“Our apps will inform you when an updated map is ready, with a notification. Just go to ‘download maps’ from the menu and if new versions of your downloaded maps are available, simply tap on the ‘update’ button,” Nokia explained in a blog post.

Coming to the specific changes, Here users in Cyprus, Mayotte and Zimbabwe will now get full turn-by-turn directions. In addition, there have been significant improvements to maps for Comoros, Djibouti, Eritrea, Fiji, Gambia, Liberia, Madagascar, Sierra Leone and Somalia.

Among other changes, the updated Here app includes details about more water sources than earlier and improved public transit information for Kaohsiung, Taipei, Curitiba, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Singapore cities.
