Non-operational lifts in Customs House create tremendous hardships for visitors

KARACHI: The visitors, including importers and clearing agents, are facing tremendous difficulties in travelling from ground floor to 12th floor of the Custom House building, as the two lifts for visitors are not working properly from quite some time.

The visitors while sharing their views with Customs Today said that the Collector MCC-Preventive Syed Muhammad Tariq Huda, while keeping the plights of the visitors in front, has issued orders to make the second lift for the visitors operational which was laid defunct for a long time.

They further said that visitors took a sigh of relief after making the second lift operational by the orders of the Collector-MCC Preventive S M Tariq. However, both of the lifts are currently not working properly due to which the visitors are facing acute problems in their travelling in Custom House building in their daily routine working.

“The non-operational of two lifts for visitors compel them to use stairs during scorching summer season, which on one hand low down the energy of the visitors while on the other hand causing difficulties to the importers and clearing agents”, they added.

One of the visitors said that the Collector-MCC Preventive S M Tariq Huda has taken initiative on renovation work of Eduljee Dinshaw Road while he does not paying any attention towards the non-operational of visitors lifts in Custom House Building.
