OSLO: Norway’s foreign trade surplus decreased in October from a year ago, as exports fell faster than imports, figures from Statistics Norway showed Tuesday.
The trade surplus shrank to NOK 10.36 billion in October from NOK 20.15 billion in the corresponding month last year. In September, the surplus was NOK 3.65 billion.
Exports plunged 15.9 percent year-over-year in October and imports dropped by 3.6 percent. On a monthly basis, exports grew 7.1 percent in October, while imports decreased by 4.8 percent.
At the same time, the mainland trade deficit widened to NOK 20.28 billion in October from NOK 17.47 billion in the same month of 2015.
