NTC plans to increase revenue by 100%

LAHORE: National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) has wanted to expand its revenue upto 100 percent through presenting cutting edge corporate bundles under open private associations (PPP) and getting new contracts on China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

This was stated by NTC Chairman/Managing Director Wiqar Rashid Khan. He said that being a national corporation, NTC has vast network of telecome consumers in public sector. He said that within a short span of three years, NTC increased it coverage area from 54 districts to 87 and it would be covering more than 113 districts in all provinces very soon.

He said that during last three years, NTC management and workers pulled out the corporation from the deficit and made it an institution running with its own resources. He said the annual revenue of the NTC was risen to 360 million which was a great achievement. He appreciated the performance of Central Region Lahore in respect of recovery and new connections.

To a question, he said that NTC launched special drive to recover outstanding dues from the defaulters which was giving positive results in all provinces. He said that NTC would be engaged in various projects of CPEC from Gilgit to Gawadar which would definitely increase the revenue of the corporation upto 100 percent. He said that NTC has very competent workforce of the professionals in telecommunication and software engineering and very soon it would be in the major telecom companies of the country, he added.

Moreover, NTC signed agreements with known telecom companies including Mobilink, Zong, Wateen, LMKT, Multinet and others with an aim to widen the scope of NTC services and generate income, he said.

Wiqar Rashid said that NTC was working on various business avenues to increase the revenue and scope of the corporation by introducing packages in accordance with the needs of the corporate consumers under public-private partnership. He said that a number of proposals also were under consideration to utilize the NTC land on prime locations across the country to generate more revenue.
