ISLAMABAD: National Transmission and Dispatch Company Limited (NTDCL) has connected another wind power plant with national grid by installing 9.5 Km long, 132 kV double circuit transmission line in sea area of Gharo Wind Cluster.
The spokesman said that 50 MW electricity generated by Foundation Wind Energy Limited (FWEL-I) has been added to the system.
“NTDC has constructed more than 90 Km long 132 kV double circuit transmission line network in difficult terrain like sea water and hilly areas for dispersal of power from wind power projects of Gharo and Jhimpir wind cluster” said the spokesman.
He said that NTDCL has already connected three wind power plants established in Jhimpir i.e 56.2 MW Zorlu Wind Power (Turkey), 50 MW Fauji Fertilizer Company Energy Limited (FFCEL), 50 MW Three Gorges First Wind Power Plant China (TGF) and fourth one (Sapphire) is in its completion stage, whereas Foundation Wind Energy Limited (FWEL-II) 50 MW has already been added to the system in December 2014. The spokesman further said that government is committed to mitigating load shedding and to promote green energy free of fuel and pollution with no affect on the environment.
Investors are being facilitated in terms of timely completion of transmission lines network, both in Gharo and Jhimpir windy locations hence wind turbines offer a ray of hope in power gloom. Dilating upon the future projects, he said that for dispersal of power, NTDCL is going to construct 220 kV Grid Station Jhampir with capacity of 750 MVA Auto Transformer and Two 220 kV double circuit Transmission lines, one from New Jhampir to Tando Muhammad Khan Road Hyderabad and other one from Jhampir to Gharo.
Since the construction work of series of new wind power plants with capacity of 50MW each would be installed in Jhimpir. While talking about Gharo wind cluster, the spokesman said that 10 Wind Power Plants having capacity of 50 MW each are likely to be installed at Gharo wind corridor. NTDCL has already acquired land for construction of 220 kV GIS grid station for dispersal of power up to national grid.
He said that functioning of said projects will help to reduce load shedding in the country especially for the agriculture, industrial and domestic consumers of Nooriabad, Jhimpir, Thatta, Mirpur Sakro and others areas of Sindh. It will also provide a platform for industrial development in Nooriabad, Jhimpir and Thatta alongwith employment opportunities.
