NTU announces countrywide strike after Eid over withholding tax

LAHORE: National Traders Union has also announced a national traders’ convention in Lahore where dates of new strike will be announced.

According to chairman of National Traders Alliance, Sheikh Muhammad Mushtaq, all trade unions from the whole country will participate in upcoming strike against so called withholding tax on bank transactions.

He expressed these views while addressing a press conference at Gulshan Center he said that they will announce strike throughout country to protest against withholding tax on bank transactions.

A meeting of executive committee of traders alliance also held where they decided that traders will stop working with banks in the country if federal government will not withdraw its 0.6 percent tax on bank transactions.

Sheikh Mohammed Mushtaq also said that their alliance has no concern with traders who are negotiating with Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.
