He said that he believes that the objectives of the audits should be to guide, educate and facilitate, that is audits should be performed to guide taxpayers who file their returns to save them from the mistakes which they committed in the past and to save themselves from future mistakes.

Kashif is also convinced that there should be no element of harassment, penalties and surcharges and rather than that, instead of frightening, audits should be in such a way that the taxpayers voluntarily present themselves for audit to pinpoint their mistakes so they can be corrected.

He further stated that the dilemma is only those persons are selected for audit who file their returns.

Anwar also advised the FBR that such a policy should be introduced that those persons who file their returns get immunity from audits and those who do not file returns must be bring into tax net.  He further said that audits are good but not for Filers. All the policies should be a cross the board.
