LAHORE: The government of Punjab has restrained the Excise and Taxation inspectors to issue any kind of property tax notices to taxpayers’ and gave authority to the officers of grade-17 or above to issue the notices.
The government has taken this step in the wake of complaints lodged by taxpayers’ about the overbilling of property taxes allegedly by excise inspectors. In the start of current fiscal year, excise inspectors issued property tax notices with overbilling instead of outstanding dues.
Government has directed that notices of arrest warrant, seal of property and penalties will be issued by the officers of grade-17 or above. It was also instructed that excise authorities should adopt amiable behavior with taxpayers.
