Officials collect Rs 47.6 million as excise tax in Multan

MULTAN: The Excise and Taxation Department has collected Rs 47.6 as excise tax from Multan by achieving 70 percent of the set target during July-February in the current fiscal year.

The Excise and Taxation had been assigned the target of Rs 66.7 million for Multan alone, while it has achieved 70 percent of the target in first eight months of the year.

On the other hand, the department generated Rs 6.6 million in the wake of excise tax in February. The biggest source of excise tax in the region is liquor.

Two years ago, the Multan Excise was on top in tax collection among all regions of Punjab, and now, it is trying to get the lost rank, an official said.

They department has made an effective strategy to monitor tax recoveries in the region.
