TANDO ALLAH YAR: The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC) has announced the discovery of another new oil and gas reserve in Sindh, marking a positive development for Pakistan’s energy sector.

According to the company’s spokesperson, the discovery was made at the Dars West-III well located in Tando Allahyar district.

The OGDC spokesperson said the initial test at Dars West-III showed encouraging results. Daily production was recorded at 9.70 million cubic feet of gas and 580 barrels of oil. These figures indicate significant potential for strengthening domestic energy supplies.

Extraction from Lower Goro Formation

The spokesperson further stated that the oil and gas were produced from the sea sand reservoir of the Lower Goro Formation.

The Lower Goro Formation is known for its hydrocarbon potential, and the latest discovery adds to its strategic importance in Pakistan’s exploration landscape.

Gas to be added to SSGCL network

According to OGDC, the gas extracted from the new well will be processed at the plant before being injected into the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) network.

This step will ensure that the newly discovered gas contributes directly to the national supply system, helping meet growing energy demand.

The discovery of the Dars West-III well underscores OGDC’s ongoing exploration efforts in Sindh province.

With initial output already confirmed, the new oil and gas reserves are expected to support Pakistan’s push toward reducing reliance on energy imports and enhancing domestic production capacity.
