OGDCL appraises gas and condensate in bilitang-1-ST-1 well, Kohat

KOHAT: The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited announced on Friday the successful appraisal of gas and condensate from the Lumshiwal Formation in its Bilitang-1-ST-1 exploratory well in Kohat district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The company informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange that the TAL Joint Venture, consisting of OGDCL (30% working interest), MOL Pakistan Oil & Gas Co. B.V. (Operator, 10%), Pakistan Petroleum Limited (30%), Pakistan Oilfields Limited (25%), and Government Holdings Private Limited (5%), collaborated on the appraisal.

The well, spudded on August 10, 2025, was sidetracked to target higher-quality reservoirs and drilled to a total depth of 4004 meters TVD. Wireline and LWD logs indicated that the Lumshiwal Formation tested at a flow rate of 26.5 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) with a wellhead flowing pressure of 4,214 psi at a 32/64-inch choke.

OGDCL said the appraisal de-risks further exploration in the TAL Block and opens new opportunities for hydrocarbon development. Officials added that the discovery will enhance Pakistan’s energy security from domestic resources while increasing the reserves base of MOL, its joint venture partners, and the country.
