ISLAMABAD: Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has strongly rebutted news item in a section of press on 16-08-2016 that had claimed that the oil companies were offered licenses’ renewal under old rules. The OGRA termed the news as contrary to the facts and an effort to confound confusion as against the clarity of law.

Denying any offer of renewal under old rules as wrongly claimed in the reports, OGRA has clarified that the Oil Companies were told in a meeting on 15-08-16 that Section 45 of the OGRA Ordinance was clear and words in this regard in Oil Rules 2016, as well as in Section 45 of the Ordinance were the same. According to an OGRA spokesman, the OGRA’s stance in this regard was reiterated in response to the interpretation by the Oil companies that the “licenses granted by the Government of Pakistan did not need to be renewed under the new rules.
