A crude oil fire damaged one of the refineries in Port of Tacoma on Wednesday.The blaze was reported about 7:30 a.m. at the U.S. Oil and Refinery Co. at 3001 N. Marshall St.
The fire started in one of the chimney stacks and did not threaten an explosion. Tacoma Fire officials said most of the crude oil had burned off after about 90 minutes.
No one was injured and all employees were accounted for, officials said.Marshall Street at Port of Tacoma Road and Milwaukee Avenue was closed during the fire.
The investigation into what caused the fire will be done by the refinery, Tacoma Fire spokesman Joe Meinecke said.
