Oil tanker owners seek PM’s intervention as petrol crisis looms

KARACHI: Oil Tankers Contractors Association (OTCA) sought Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s intervention over looming petrol crisis in the country as hundreds of oil tankers are struck on different highways of Sindh.

In his letter addressed to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, OTCA President Abid Abdullah stated that hundreds of oil tankers are struck on different highways due to protest over canals issue in Sindh.

He further stated that during protests and road blockage mirrors of different vehicles were broken and several oil tankers were damaged.

He further warned that extensive heat and sudden eruption of fire may led to some major accident.

Abid Abdullah said that current heatwave is also producing gas inside the oil tankers which is quite dangerous for security of these oil-tankers.

OT General Secretary Shoaib Khan said that our country is heading towards shortage of petrol as thousands of oil tankers failed to reach their destinations on their scheduled time.

He said that interruption in supply of petrol may led to petrol crisis in the country.
