Oman awards tender for building OMR23m water pipeline project

MUSCAT: A contract for building a water pipeline to connect the new Quriyat water desalination plant and Wadi Dhaqah has been awarded to a contracting firm. The cost of building the project is OMR22.6 million and this project is among various contracts awarded by the Tender Board on Wednesday, after the board met under the chairmanship of Dr. Rasheed bin al Safi Al Huraibi.

The total value of various projects awarded on Wednesday was OMR75.84 million.

Other major contracts included a building contract for the Ministry of Social Development in Al Irfan City in the Wilayat of Baushar in Muscat (OMR19.95 million), operation and maintenance of electrical, mechanical equipment and civil works at Sultan Qaboos University for the next four years (OMR16.81 million), an agreement for compensating the assets on the lands allocated for wheat silos project in Sohar (OMR3.70 million), additional works for the provision of meter reading, billing, collection, settlement of accounts, reporting and customer services at the Public Authority for Electricity and Water in the Sultanate’s Governorates (OMR5.46 million) and additional works for the provision of meter reading, billing, collection, settlement of accounts, reporting and customer services at the Public Authority for Electricity and Water in the Governorate of Muscat (OMR4.19 million).

Several other contracts were also awarded, which included additional works for the construction of Argot- Sarfait road in the Governorate of Dhofar (OMR1.82 million), additional works for consultancy services for the design and supervision of the construction of Ras Al Hadd Airport in the Governorate of South A’Sharqiyah (OMR 555,609) and Additional works for the construction of water transmission pipeline from Al Ghubrah Water Desalination Plant to Water Tank in Muscat (OMR242,906).
