MUSCAT: Bank Sohar recently joined an exclusive business delegation to Turkey with the aim of strengthening trade and business ties between Oman and Turkey.
The four-day trade mission, which took place from September 30 to October 4, was organised by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), in order to help connect Oman’s key financial institutions and businesses with new business opportunities in Turkey’s market.
The trade delegation, which saw the participation of several of Oman’s most prominent business leaders from leading financial institutions and businesses, was led by Eng. Said bin Saleh Al Kiyumi, chairman of OCCI. Representing Bank Sohar on the trade mission were Rashad Ali Al Musafir, acting chief executive officer, and Mustafa Ali Mukhtar, DGM and head of Corporate Banking.
Commenting on the bank’s participation in the trade mission, Rashad Al Musafir said, “Promoting international trade is a crucial way that we will boost our economy and continue to build a stronger and brighter economic future for the Sultanate. Located at the crossroads of Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East, Turkey is a regional commercial hub and an ideal location for promoting economic growth, especially in areas of trade finance and foreign investments.”
Organised by OCCI, the trade mission featured presentations and a series of meetings with potential partners, customers and business groups for the Omani businesses and banks participating in the trade mission. These presentations and meeting provided the members of the delegation with a clear understanding of Turkey’s trade experience and capabilities, while at the same time providing both parties with prospective opportunities for mutual sustainable development and foreign investments opportunities both in Turkey and Oman.
“Opening doors to strategic markets around the world as well as for foreign investments into Oman, is a key aspect that will help spur economic development and create job opportunities. As one of the most prominent banks in the country, it was both a privilege and an honour to be a part of such an exclusive delegation; playing a key role in helping connect our local businesses in the Sultanate with new opportunities for growth internationally and vice versa,” added Rashad Al Musafir.
“We would like to thank OCCI for organising and provides us with this invaluable opportunity and look forward to participating in similar future trade missions to other promising markets,” he said.
