MUSCAT: Oman customs confiscated contraband and 2,918 cigarettes packets of various brands and more than 93 kilogrammes of chewing tobacco in Seeb wilayat.
Personnel of the General Administration of Customs raided three houses in Seeb wilayat inhabited by expatriate workers who were storing smuggled goods there, according to the ROP.
The source explained that the seized items contained counterfeit and fake tobacco products which could cause significant damage to health as they contained extremely dangerous components.
The source also said that the operation was a part of the fight against smuggling and to prevent the promotion of prohibited and dangerous substances.
