MUSCAT: Oman Customs Department has arrested two smugglers and seized silver alloy and gun at Hafeet border and Saa border in different incidents, here the other day.
An Omani Customs official told the Customs Today that following a routine inspection, 24 pieces of silver alloy were discovered under the driver’s seat of a vehicle used by the accused.
The accused admitted to buying the silver from a neighboring country to sell them in other Arab countries.
The vehicle and the silver alloy were seized and the accused was referred to the Public Prosecution for trial.
Meanwhile, Oman Customs Department officials at Saa border post in Buraimi arrested an Arab national for trying to smuggle in a gun.
The accused had concealed the pistol in the spare tyre of the vehicle.
Fifty bullets and currencies were also confiscated.
