TEHRAN: Oman’s major delegation of businessmen will visit to Iran to look for the opportunities to promote bilateral trade and commercial cooperation with Iran.
The delegation – that will arrive in Tehran on April 24 – will comprise 60 businessmen and will be led by Said bin Saleh Al Kiyumi, the chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI).
The companies that will visit Tehran are operating in a variety of fields including education, construction, infrastructure and tourism, in addition to food stuff, finance, banking and marble.
They are also operating in building materials, computers and electronics apart from investment, agriculture and the medical sector.
According to the statistics of the Oman’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the value of bilateral trade between Iran and Oman stood at $890 million in 2013, compared to $500 million in 2012.
Oman imported $560 million worth of goods from Iran in 2013, a 172.2 percent increase from the preceding year. The Sultanate’s exports to Iran (exports and re-exports) totaled $320 million in 2013, an increase of 8.4 per cent compared to 2012.
