Oman’s Airports Management Co signs MoU with India’s GADL

MUSCAT: GMR Airport Developers Limited (GADL), a subsidiary of GMR Infrastructure Limited, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Oman Airports Management Co (OAMC) for providing training and consultancy services.

As per the MoU, the GMR subsidiary will provide services ranging from programme management, testing and commissioning of airport systems to development of aeronautical and non-aeronautical revenue streams, according to a statement posted on the GMR Group website on Wednesday.

Srinivas Bommidala, business chairman for airports at GMR Group, said, “GMR Group is the world’s fourth largest private airport developer and possesses end-to-end capabilities in the airport space. In line with our stated asset light asset right strategy, GMR has been engaging with and offering consultancy services to airport companies in the Middle East and South East Asia. We are honoured that OAMC has signed a comprehensive MoU with GADL aimed at knowledge sharing and skills development for the OAMC staff.”

In line with the MoU, the GMR subsidiary will provide on-site support for six months at Salalah Airport, which will help OAMC team to learn and adapt some of the best practices of Delhi and Hyderabad airports. The OAMC team may also undergo training at the GMR Aviation Academy – one of the few academies in the world to have received the coveted RTCE certification.

GMR Infrastructure is a Bengaluru-headquartered infrastructure group with interest in airports, energy, highways and transportation and urban infrastructure sectors.

GMR added that it is in dialogue with other airports for similar projects in the Middle East and South East Asia.
