MUSCAT: Oman produced 27.16 million barrels of crude oil in February, equivalent to 970,000 barrels per day, according to a monthly report released by the Ministry of Oil and Gas here on Sunday. The report indicates a marginal drop of 0.09 per cent, compared to January 2017.
Of the total production, some 22.53 million barrels of crude oil were exported in February 2017, equivalent to 948,440 barrels per day – a fall of 6.4 per cent compared to the previous month.
China was the major importer of the Sultanate’s oil, accounting for 82.49 per cent of total exports, which also shows a growth of 18.33 per cent over the previous month. South Korea imported 4.43 per cent of the Sultanate’s crude oil exports, but the country’s imports declined by 12.25 per cent compared to the previous month.
This was followed by Japan and Taiwan, which increased their imports in February by 2.57 per cent and 1.08 per cent, respectively.
Japan imported 4.44 per cent of Oman’s total exports, while Taiwan imported 8.64 per cent of total exports.
