MUSCAT: Ithraa, the government organisation responsible for attracting inward investment and developing Oman’s non-oil exports, on Wednesday announced the appointment of Boleta Senkiene as its authorised trade and investment representative in Lithuania.
Ithraa has agreements with 25 authorised trade and investment representatives covering 22 countries. Representatives are local professionals, knowledgeable about the business, social and economic environments in their territories.
They play an important role in providing Ithraa with market intelligence and offering advice on qualified buyers, agents, distributors and overseas partners.
They also lend help with in-country logistical support for Omani organisations attending international B2B sessions and trade shows.
“Having Senkiene join our growing network of international representatives is an exciting development. Her expertise will certainly boost Ithraa’s efforts in helping Omani companies secure a stronger foothold in the growing Baltic markets,” remarked Nasima Al Balushi, Ithraa’s director general of export development.
Lithuania is currently among the fastest growing economies in the European Union (EU) and is gaining momentum from its Eurozone membership and recent strong economic performance.
“There are opportunities for Omani exporters particularly in the areas of energy, infrastructure, transport, plastics, food and drink and technology. We are fully committed to opening new markets for Omani businesses in Europe, which we know will sustain and create local jobs and prosperity,” pointed out Al Balushi.
Commenting from Vilnius on her appointment, Senkiene said, “I believe the new position opens up even more exciting possibilities for trade and investment co-operation between Oman and Lithuania. The commercial potential is definitely there, we just need to work on bringing our two business communities closer together. My appointment will hopefully help Ithraa develop Oman’s growing international market presence in Lithuania and the Baltic States.”
Founded in 1996, Ithraa is a government-run, ISO and investor in a people certified inward investment and export promotion agency.
They provide a range of support services and information to help domestic and international investors set up units in Oman, and export too.
