MUSCAT: Amid weak trading activity, MSM Index ended negatively at 6,318.28 points, down by 0.07 percent. The MSM Sharia Index closed at 972.84 points, down by 0.09 percent. Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of volume while Omantel was the most active in terms of turnover. Sunday’s top gainer was Oman Takaful, up by 2.80 percent while Galfar Engineering down by 1.56 percent was the top loser for the day.
A total number of 440 trades were executed during the day’s trading session generating turnover of OMR2.34 million with more than 5.92 million shares changing hands. Out of 39 traded securities, 13 advanced, five declined and 21 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab Investors were net buyers for OMR241,000 followed by Foreign Investors for OMR160,000 while Omani Investors were net sellers for OMR401,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 7,731.83 points, marginally down by 0.02 percent. Takaful Oman, Oman & Emirates, United Finance, Gulf Investment Services and NBO increased by 2.80 per cent, 0.87 percent, 0.81 percent, 0.70 percent and 0.64 percent respectively. HSBC Bank Oman, Global Financial Investment and Al Sharqiya Investment declined by 1.52 percent, 0.85 percent and 0.69 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index retreated 0.14 percent to close at 8,331.10 points. Muscat Thread Mills, Al Hassan Engineering and Al Maha Ceramics increased by 1.61 percent, 0.90 percent and 0.38 percent respectively. Galfar Engineering was the only loser and was down by 1.56 percent to close at OMR0.126.
Services Sector Index ended the day at 3,437.36 points, down by 0.07 percent. Port Services, Al Jazeera Services and OIFC increased respectively. Ooredoo, down by 1.08 percent, was the only sector gainer.
