Oman’s share index ends lower marginally

Muscat: The MSM30 index ended lower at 4,258.10 points by 0.51 per cent. MSM Sharia Index closed at 590.74 points, down by 0.89 per cent. Bank Sohar was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover. The top gainer was Muscat Finance which closed higher by 3.49 per cent while the top loser was Almaha Ceramics which closed lower by 4.76 per cent.

A total number of 435 trades were executed during the day’s trading session generating turnover of OMR2.16 million with more than 13.72 million shares changing hands. Out of 39 traded stocks, 3 advanced, 17 declined and 19 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net buyers for OMR179,000, followed by Omani investors for OMR139,000 while GCC and Arab were net sellers for OMR318,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index lost 0.38 per cent to at 6,817.22 points. Muscat Finance was up 3.49 per cent. Al Anwar Holding, Al Sharqia Investment Holding, Bank Nizwa, Taageer Finance and Bank Muscat were down by 2.17 per cent, 1.16 per cent, 1.09 per cent, 1.05 per cent and 0.99 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index lost 1.12 per cent to close at 4,972.64 points. Oman Fisheries was up by 1.82 per cent. Almaha Ceramics, Raysut Cement, Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles, Oman Flour Mills and Galfar Engineering were down by 4.76 per cent, 2.97 per cent, 2.41 per cent, 1.81 per cent and 1.23 per cent respectively.
