BEJING: The OnePlus Two device was recently put through a benchmark test with the OnePlus One A2001 moniker and it carried an octa core Snapdragon 810 SOC.

You read that right The phone which got benchmarked online is listed as the OnePlus One, but it isn’t the same as the current handset. The biggest and most obvious difference here is the processor. The original phone has a 2.5GHz quad core Snapdragon 801 chip, while this SOC is the latest Snapdragon 810 with 64-bit support baked in.

Then there’s the model number A2001 which is different from the A0001 used for the original One handset. Clearly, the new device is either an upgraded model or a new flagship phone and we’ve got out money on the latter. There’s a good possibility that OnePlus might not used the Two moniker for its upcoming smartphone.

It could be going for the same strategy Motorola has been implementing for its smartphone by retaining the same branding. So, the next flagship could just be called the new OnePlus One or the 2015 edition. The Geekbench website also mentions that the phone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop and this will not be Cyanogen OS, but the company’s own Oxygen OS.
