ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) is launching operation against the guest houses operating in residential areas of the federal capital.

However, CDA still wavers with regard to initiating any action to eliminate commercial activities in residential areas because embassies of 19 countries are also operating in the residential areas and they have paid no heed to the notices issued to them on several occasions.

Meanwhile, Capital Development Authority Development Working Party (CDADWP) has approved six new developmental projects in a meeting chaired by Chairman CDA Maroof Afzal, projects.

The meeting was held at the CDA headquarters. In order to facilitate the commuters, particularly the residents of Islamabad, CDADWP approved the PC-I for the construction of two under-passes at Faisal Avenue i.e. one underpass between G-7 and G-8 and the other underpass between F-7 and F-8, with the estimated cost of Rs 850.215 million.

This public welfare project will not only facilitate the residents of these sectors but would help maintain the traffic flow on the Faisal Avenue. The scheme shall be financed through CDA’s own resources.

To minimise the response time of CDA fire service in case of fire occurrence or emergency situation, CDADWP approved the establishment of four more fire sub-stations in different sectors of Islamabad and up-gradation of fire sub-station located in G-5.

The PC-I for project of establishment of four new fire sub-stations and up-gradation of fire sub-station of Sector G-5 was approved with the cost of Rs 408.178 million.

The CDADWP in its meeting also approved the PC-I of the project for construction of additional block at Capital Hospital for providing better medical facilities to CDA employees and to accommodate more patients. The estimated cost of this project is Rs 87.696 million. With construction of new block maximum number of patients would be accommodated at Capital Hospital. In order to facilitate the general public, especially the trader community of Islamabad, PC-I for construction of bridge in I&T centre G-10/4 was also approved. The estimated cost of this project is Rs 87.696 million.
