HONG KONG: Authorities in Hong Kong, the mainland and Malaysia conducted a joint investigation code named “LASERFINDER” over April and May. It is unclear whether any lasers were found, but it is likely the officials involved felt extra cool using that code name.

On April 1, the Narcotics Control Bureau of mainland China arrested six suspected members of an international drug syndicate in Shenzhen and Guangzhou, seizing 102 kilograms of ice (meth) in the process. Fool’s Day indeed!

Some of the Malaysian police’s haul.

Then, on May 12, the Malaysia’s Narcotics Crime Investigation Department raided 11 different locations in the country, arresting 15 Malaysian drug ring members, including the alleged “mastermind”, and two Bangladeshi members.

The Royal Malaysia Police seized 220 kilos of ice, 132 kilos of ecstasy, and 18 kilos of ketamine.

Drugs, drugs everywhere!

Though Malaysia and the mainland have had success with their raids, the investigations in Hong Kong are simply “underway”, say the local police, with no raids or arrests made so far.
