After the orders from government, the cellular companies had launched this campaign and each SIM owner was asked to get his/her connection re-verified from the authorized centres. The users were demanded to get their thumb impressions verified with the database registered in NADRA. Hence ensuring that the owner of the registered SIM is really the legitimate CNIC holder against which the SIM is named.

The number of SIMs which were to be re-verified when the campaign was going to be launched was 103 million. According to the statistics, 64 million SIMS belonged to those having one and two SIMs per CNIC, while 30 million SIMS belonged to those having three or more SIMs per CNIC.

Under this campaign, the total number of SIMs which are verified is 71.1 million which were registered against 60 million CNICs; 16.7 million SIMs blocked, while 9.2 million were left unverified equalizing 26 millions SIMs which are disowned and unverified.

While final statistics for re-verification of SIMs are expected to be available late Monday, reports from late Saturday say that a total of 77.1 million SIMs were re-verified during last three months.
