Over 30 pc progress on Multan-Sukkur Motorway achieved

ISLAMABAD: Over 30 per cent work of Sukkur-Multan Motorway has been completed so far and it is expected that its two sections, including Multan to Uch Sharif and Sukkur to Sadiqabad, will become operational by June 2018.

The 393 kilometre six-lane motorway is part of the eastern route of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and will be completed by August 2019, an official of National Highway Authority (NHA) told APP on Sunday.

Sukkur-Multan Motorway starts at Sukkur and terminates at Multan after passing through Pano Akil, Ubauro, Ahmed East, Pirwala, Jalalpur, and 54 bridges would be built on the motorway, including a big one over river Sutlej.

The Sukkur-Multan project includes 12 service areas, 10 rest areas,  11 interchanges, 10 flyovers and 426 underpasses and it will provide high speed transport services between Sindh and Punjab.

With the completion of this project quality of life of the people in the area will be improved and trade through this route will be improved, he said.
