Over 300 properties sealed for non-payment of property tax

RAWALPINDI: Excise and Taxation Department has sealed over 300 commercial and residential properties here during a campaign against property tax defaulters.

According to an Excise and Taxation spokesman, the teams comprising inspectors under the supervision of Excise and Taxation Officer (ETO) Property, Riaz Qureshi has conducting raids and the properties of tax defaulters were  sealed.

He said that the department also recovered property tax arrears amounting to Rs14 million during last two weeks. The properties whose owners had not submitted their property tax dues were sealed in different areas, while the department is expecting to collect over Rs20 million property tax arrears from the defaulters.

The Excise and Taxation department during its special campaign launched on the directive of Director Excise also checking vehicles in the division and recovering outstanding dues of token tax. Action was taken in accordance with the law against the defaulters, he added.

He urged the owners of properties and vehicles to pay their property taxes and vehicles token taxes at the earliest otherwise strict action would be taken under the law against the defaulters.
