LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) and Ferozepur Road Industrial Association (FRIA) have demanded the Punjab government to declare Ferozepur Road Industrial Area as ‘Industrial Zone’.
LCCI Vice President Syed Mahmood Ghaznavi raised demand while talking to the delegation of FRIA led by its Chief Adnan Butt here at the chamber. Other members of the delegation included Founder Chairman of FRIA Muhammad Adnan Khalid Butt, Chairman Mubasher Naseer Butt, Former Chairmen Shahid Baig and Saadatullah.
The FRIA delegation informed the LCCI vice president that Ferozepure Road Industrial Area has more than 500 industrial units and trading houses catering to the needs of over 0.1 million people directly or indirectly but due to non-availability of fundamental facilities, the industrialists are facing multiple problems.
They said that law and order situation is also not satisfactory. He also sought the help of LCCI for a fire station in the area to avert any untoward incident in the area. LCCI Vice President Syed Mahmood Ghaznavi said the chamber is quite conscious of the problems of the business community and was putting in its best efforts for their early solution. He said that the LCCI understands well that the acute energy shortage had hit the entire industrial sector and it had asked the government for a bailout package to the industry besides a cut in mark-up rate that is too high and has no parallel in the developed world.
LCCI vice president informed the FRIA delegation that LCCI has established a Help Desk to address the issues of property tax and invited them to avail the opportunity. He said that existing industrial estates, despite facing various challenges, are making a sizeable contribution to the Pakistan’s economy.
