Over Rs300m dry-fruits seized by customs is likely to perish

LAHORE: Over Rs 300 million dry fruits seized by customs authorities is likely to perish as neither collector nor additional collector is posted at the Customs Adjudication Lahore for over one and a half month.

Sources told Customs Today that winter season is approaching its ends while the seized dry fruits at various godown are most likely to be wasted away till the next season. They said that collector Appeals has been given additional charge of collector adjudication.

However, full-fledged collector should immediately be posted to finish the backlog and save the perishable disputed goods.

They also informed that additional collector adjudication is also not posted following additional collector Zeb Gul Shabbir went on ex Pakistan leave.

Earlier, Collector Adjudication Quratul Ain Dogar is transferred last month but no Collector Adjudication has been posted in Lahore till yet.

The complainants have urged Federal Board of Revenue to post Adjudication Collector and Additional Collector Adjudication for early release of their goods to save them from getting perished.
