Overall revenue collection shows over 70% growth in 4 years: Dar

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said on Saturday that overall revenue collection in the country had showed over 70 percent growth during last four years.

While addressing the Customs Chief Collectors, Director Generals Conference at the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) headquarters in Islamabad, the minister said that this momentum should be maintained with dedicated efforts in future as it would contribute significantly to PML-N government’s resolve for inclusive and sustainable economic growth in the country.

Dar called upon senior officials to double their efforts for meeting the collection target for the current fiscal year.

The finance minister assured full support to the officials in this regard and welcomed the initiative to hold the conference as it provide good opportunity for interaction and sharing of professional experiences.

The minister said that customs along with the Inland Revenue System had an important role to play in enhancing revenue collection.

Ishaq Dar said that taking revenue collection from Rs1946 billion in 2013 to Rs3362 billion in 2017 was a creditable achievement by FBR under the PML-N government. The minister said that taxpayers facilitation and strengthening of the tax base should be the hallmark of FBR’s revenue collection policy.
