Overseas Pakistanis send about $84 billion in five years

ISLAMABAD: The overseas Pakistanis have sent home $83792.11 million (about $84 billion)during the last five fiscal years and the three quarters of the current year.

The year wise break up of this huge amount reveals that $11200.90 million were received in the fiscal year 2010-11, $13186.58 million in 2011-12, $13920.16 million in 2012-13, $15,832.25 million in 2013-14, $18454.04 million 2014-15 and $11,198.18 till now in the current fiscal year, an official source told APP.

According to the data received to the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development from State Bank of Pakistan, the highest contribution was received from Saudi Arabia from which a total amount of $24179.73 million has been received in the said period.

The second one is United States of America from where overseas workers have sent $13.166.08 million followed by United Kingdom from where an amount of $10558.91 million was received. An amount of $17999.95 million was sent by the human resource working in United Arab Emirates while $9784.77 million were received from countries of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

An amount of $2090.68 million was earned by the overseas workers in European countries. While $3868.94 million were contributed in the national economy of the country by the Pakistani work force serving in other countries of globe.
