HONG KONG: Mankind has been dreaming of sending and extending Earth life to the Red planet for some time now. And the plan is getting closer and closer as they build the puzzle that will make the mission successful. Space agencies and private investors has been putting billions of dollars to fulfill the mission even if it’s still set to occur in over a decade. But one of the most significant parts of the mission is the possible involvement of important compounds and substances in the planet that could support human life – methane and oxygen, which started fifty years ago and is still an ongoing study nowadays.
Several reports have been battling against each other for the last 10-15 years in terms of the presence of methane on Mars’ atmosphere. Some reports confirmed the presence of methane, some denied it occurrence, while others say that its amount is very negligible to what humans need. But the most recent findings showed the sudden spikes, or bursts of methane on the surface of the Red planet. But when NASA scientists Ken Zahnle said that, “I am convinced that they are really are seeing methane. But I’m thinking that it has to be coming from the rover,” he spark confusion among believers and non-believers.
