P1.2M in drugs seized in 2 cities

MANILA: A total of P1.2 million in illegal drug shabu were seized in two separate operations in the cities of Bacolod and Cadiz on Thursday and Friday, respectively.

In Bacolod, some P900,000 worth of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) were confiscated by joint operatives of the Regional Special Operations Task Group-18 and Police Station 2 in a drug bust at corner Lacson Street-B.S Aquino Drive, Barangay 4 at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

ADB raises $4.25 billion from US dollar bond market to boost OCR for 2020

Arrested were Christopher Dedel, 56, of Sto. Niño, Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod; and Harie Cesar, 28, of Hacienda Silos, Barangay Talaban, Himamaylan City, a blotter report of Police Station 2 showed.

The suspects sold a sachet of shabu to a police poseur-buyer for P3,000.

Police recovered from the possession of the suspects 15 pieces of big heat-sealed plastic sachets of shabu, the P3,000 marked money, and an FJ Cruiser Toyota vehicle.

The suspects are detained at Police Station 2 and are facing charges.

In Cadiz, P300,000 worth of shabu were seized by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agents during a drug bust in a drug den at Purok San Pedro, Barangay 4 Friday afternoon.

Five suspects were arrested, including the subject of the operation, Christian de la Cruz, 24, of the said barangay.

Investigation Agent V David Mark Maramba, operations division chief of PDEA-Negros Island Region, said that De la Cruz sold a sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur-buyer for P500.

Aside from him, house owner Loida Villanueva, 60, was also arrested after she yielded a sachet of drugs and the P500 mark money.

Also arrested for visiting a drug den were Mon Brian Quiatchon, 25, of the said barangay; Jeremile Reyes, 27, of Lopez Jaena Street; and Joemarie Perez, 40, of Juan Luna Street, all in Cadiz.

Maramba said the recovered shabu, weighing 70 grams, have an estimated market value of P300,000.

He added that they are still verifying if the suspects are included in the city’s drug watchlist.

All suspects are now in police custody and will face charges.
