ISLAMABAD: Sub-Committee of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) expressed concern over NADRA’s audit report of 2003-04 and said that PAC forum should not be used for resolving outstanding issues all legal formalities should be followed.
The committee met here on Thursday under the chairmanship of Syed Naveed Qamar including members Junaid Anwar and Dr. Darshan and discussed the implementation status on the audit of the Ministry of Interior for the year 2003- 04.
Audit official told the committee that in 2000 the NADRA had granted the agreement of Rs 230 million for purchase of Data Scanners to an irrelevant company.
Secretary Interior Shahid Khan said that decision for purchase of scanners was taken after the recommendation of technical committee.
The PAC expressing concern over reply of the Secretary, directed to investigate the matter and present its report in front of the committee.
The Chairman Committee while discussing the audit para in which a loss of Rs 267 million was faced due to an agreement between NADRA and Fauji Foundation, said that it is not a minor loss and it should be investigated.
Audit officials said that NADRA did not provided the detailed documents as it was decided in the Departmental Accounts Committee (DAC).
The committee was informed that in 1999, NADRA had given tenders to appoint legal advisors but only two firms, Kundi and Kundi Associates applied and both were nominated as legal advisor while these firms were paid above the tenders.
