Pak-Afghan exporters for provision of banking facilities on border

PESHAWAR: The Pak-Afghan exporters observed the International Customs Day with a commitment of cooperation with the Customs House Peshawar to generate duties for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.

Mohamed Iqbal, Senior Vice-President of Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), on Thursday said the Pak-Afghan exporters are facing problems while making online money transfers.

He threw light on the duties of customs officials and praised the conversion of the Tax Collecting Agency into State Department for Inland Revenue. He appreciated the customs officials for solving the problems of Afghan exporters due to deposits through Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) online VBAK system by making online e-Form at commercial bank about sales document header’s data.

Pak-Afghan exporters accompanied the delegates of Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry and stressed the need for making upgrade of the system at Torkham Border and Swat gateways.

The delegation was hosted by Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi, Ahmad Ali Farooq and Faiz Mohammed Faizi.

Currency Officer, The State Bank of Pakistan Peshawar (SBPP), Aftab Alam, was also informed about the hardships faced during online banking along the border and lack of SMS facility by commercial banks.

Assistant Chief Manager S B P P was informed about the efficiency of the National Bank’s booth on Torkham Border.

Assistant Zonal Heads of the commercial banks were also in the meeting to find a solution to the difficulty in opening corporate bank accounts and lack of bank’s facility at Torkham Gate and Ghulam Khan check-post. The currency officer assured the delegation of eliminating difficulties arisen due to upgrade of the system.
