KARACHI: Trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan, including transit trade, will resume today after closure of Pak-Afghan border for 14 days at Chaman.

According to the details, the two sides decided to open the border crossing after successful negotiations. The Chaman border was closed on August 18 after a large number of Afghans miscreants pelted stones at the Friendship Gate, smashing windowpanes of several government departments. It resulted in closure of the border and all trade activities, including the Afghan Transit Trade were stopped. Sources said that between 10,000 and 15,000 Pakistani and Afghan traders cross into Pakistan via Chaman border from Vesh Mandi in Kandhar province of Afghanistan every day. However, due to the closure of the border crossing, the traders from both the countries incurred millions of dollars losses.
