Pak-Belarus sign MoU to enhance cooperation in agri-sectors

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Belarus has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote bilateral cooperation in areas of agricultural research, dairy and livestock sectors development in order to get maximum benefits from the experiences from each other as well as sharing the expertise for boosting agriculture and livestock production.

The MoU was signed during the conclusion of fourth meeting of Pakistan-Belarus Joint Working Group (JWG) on Agriculture, which was held here.

The JWG discussed ways and means to promote bilateral cooperation in fields of agriculture and livestock sector development, besides discussing host of areas of cooperation in agri-research and farm mechanization, manufacturing of agriculture equipments.

The both sides also agreed upon continuing to follow the track of active cooperation for future progress in agreed areas including agricultural mechanization, value addition, enhanced trade, establishment of joint ventures and sharing of expertise and technologies.

Pakistan and Belarus also agreed for further expanding cooperation in various areas of agriculture, besides promoting the business to business contacts in order to expending  and further strengthening the bilateral trade ties to enhance the existing the bilateral trade volume.

Minister for National Food Security and Research Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan and Deputy Minister for Agriculture and Food Belarus Igor Brylo witnessed the signing ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Sikandar Bosan urged the need for frequent interaction of business houses of both  the countries as Pakistan attaches great importance to its bilateral relations with the Republic of Belarus.

The minister further said that the two sides will keep continue to follow the track of active cooperation for future progress in agreed areas including agricultural mechanization, value addition, enhanced trade and establishment of joint ventures.

The delegation of Republic of Belarus led by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food also visited National Institute for Genomics and Advanced Biotechnology (NIGAB) at National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC), Islamabad and witnessed the research activities carried out under at NIGAB.
