KARACHI: Owing to the rupee devaluation and new duties levied by the government, Pak Suzuki Motor Company increased prices of its vehicles, including the outgoing Mehran, ranging from Rs21,000 to Rs329,000.
“Due to the recent rupee devaluation and its negative impact, and new duties, taxes and federal excise duty (FED) levied by the government, it is extremely difficult for PSMC (Pak Suzuki Motor Company) to hold on to the current retail prices, therefore, we are compelled to pass on the cost impact to the market,” said the company, stating the reason for the hike. The revised retail sale prices for Suzuki vehicles will come into effect from July 1, 2019.

The price of Suzuki Ravi variant was increased by Rs169,000 to Rs965,000 while the price of Suzuki Bolan was raised from Rs874,000 to Rs1.05 million, Suzuki Bolan Cargo from Rs840,000 to Rs1.015 million, Suzuki WagonR VXR from Rs1.264 million to Rs1.540 million and Suzuki WagonR VXL from Rs1.344 million to Rs1.625 million.
The Japanese auto company increased the price of Suzuki CIAZ MT from Rs2.16 million to Rs2.30 million, Suzuki CIAZ AT from Rs2.30 million to Rs2.50 million, Suzuki Cultus VXR from Rs1.44 million to Rs1.745 million, Suzuki Cultus VXL from Rs1.551 million to Rs1.855 million and Suzuki Cultus VXL AGS from Rs1.668 million to Rs1.975 million.
It hiked the price of Suzuki Swift DLX NAV from Rs1.585 million to Rs1.905 million, Suzuki Swift AT NAV from Rs1.721 million to Rs2.05 million, Suzuki JIMNY JLDX MT from Rs2.493 million to Rs2.618 million, Suzuki APV 1.5L GLX MT from Rs3.14 million to Rs3.46 million, Suzuki VITARA GLX from Rs4.090 million to Rs4.295 million and Suzuki Mega Carry from Rs1.299 million to Rs1.364 million.
The retail prices are inclusive of ex-factory product prices per unit, including 17% sales tax, 2.5% FED on all versions of Mehran, WagonR, Cultus, Ravi and Bolan, 5% FED on all versions of Swift, Ciaz, Jimny, APV, Mega Carry and Vitara (as per the current Finance Bill 2019), and freight charges incurred on vehicle to reach the dealership premises, the company notice stated.
Any impact on prices due to changes in government levies, post-finance act implementation (including FED, customs duty), tariff, fiscal policies, import policies, etc would be borne by the customer, it said.
