KARACHI: Pakistan’s Ministry of Maritime Affairs has approved the first ferry service license for Sea Keepers International, a UK-based ferry operator. The service will connect Pakistan with Iran and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
On August 5, Sea Keepers International officially received permission to start operating ferry routes. This new service is expected to boost trade, tourism, and regional cooperation between Pakistan and Gulf countries.
The Research Centre for International Maritime Law & Practice (RCIMLP) has been appointed as the maritime law consultant. RCIMLP will ensure the ferry service follows international maritime laws and meets global safety standards.
This consultancy will work closely with all stakeholders to handle regulatory challenges. They aim to enhance safety and promote sustainable maritime practices in line with international norms.
Muslim Bin Aqeel, CEO of RCIMLP, said, “We are honored to partner with Sea Keepers International on this project. We are committed to strengthening Pakistan’s maritime legal framework and supporting regional collaboration.”
He added that this project will contribute significantly to Pakistan’s blue economy and improve maritime connectivity. The ferry service marks an important step toward expanding Pakistan’s maritime trade and relations in the region.
