Pakistan can get benefit of Belarusian mechanized farming equipment: Minister

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan has said that the two-day visit of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to Pakistan would help further strengthen bilateral trade and economic ties.

Talking to Radio Pakistan, he said tractors made by Belarus were quite popular and in high demand in Pakistan. “We can also get benefit of the mechanized farming equipment manufactured in Belarus for promoting the agriculture sector, which is considered backbone of the national economy.”

During the visit, he said, the Ministry of National Food Security had signed a memorandum of understanding with its Belarusian counterpart to promote the agriculture sector in Pakistan, adding “Belarus is quite strong in agriculture and dairy industries.”

Talking to PTV, Chairman Board of Investment (BOI) Dr Miftah Ismail said although the two countries were enjoying good diplomatic and political relations, but the visit would have great significance for increasing existing trade volume between them. Pakistani exporters would have a new market in Belarus for their products, he added.
